Open Work Permits For Hong Kong Residents
NEW RULES, FEWER REGULATIONS
Starting since February 2021, Canada has relaxed immigration rules for Hong Kong residents to apply for an open work permit to Canada. An open work permit allows a person to work in Canada for any employer in almost any occupation. The Open Work Permits are granted for periods of up to 3 years.
For eligibility, the main requirements include holding a valid passport issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) or the UK (BNO). There is also a requirement that the individual has graduated at a post-secondary institution for a period of two years.
This open work permit policy is temporary and can end without any notice. Because of this, it is important to apply as soon as possible.
