Angus Cheung
BIOGRAPHY
Angus has been studying and working in Edmonton since 2012. Originally born in Hong Kong, he grew up in Vancouver, B.C. and attended the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Alberta.
QUALIFICATIONS
Angus obtained a BSc in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of British Columbia where he later studied accounting. Angus received his Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in 2015. Throughout law school, he worked with the Student Legal Services of Edmonton, a local legal clinic for low income individuals from 2012 – 2015, eventually serving as their Executive Coordinator and a member of the Board of Directors. He is a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, including The Emery Jamieson LLP Award and The Honourable William J Haddad Q.C. Award.
Angus currently serves on the Board of Directors of an Edmonton based technology company as well as a national investment corporation.
He is fluent in Cantonese-Chinese, and has a limited proficiency in Mandarin-Chinese.
EXPERIENCE
Over the course of his time with Student Legal Services and articling under Laurie I. Wood at Wood Law Office, Angus has worked with numerous clients on criminal and family litigation. Since being called to the bar, he has expanded his practice to corporate law working as general counsel to a number of corporations and dealing with contracts, commercial transactions, and mergers and acquisitions on a regular basis. He has also worked on taxation issues in the Tax Court of Canada and First Nations issues in the Federal Court of Appeal of Canada. He has appeared before various Judges and Justices from the Provincial Court level to the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Federal Courts system. From High Level to Calgary, and Grande Cache to Lloydminster, Angus has travelled extensively throughout central and northern Alberta to serve his clients and appear in their local courts.
