Allen Xiao
BIOGRAPHY
Allen Xiao grew up in Edmonton and has strong links to the community. He enjoys jogging in the river valley, skiing in the Rockies and travelling. As an avid traveler, he has traversed 20 countries across three continents ranging from Barbados to Turkey.
QUALIFICATIONS
Allen majored in Psychology (BSc) in 2011 and in Russian Language and Literature (BA) in 2013 with first class honours at the University of Alberta. In summer 2013, he obtained a Certificate in Russian Language from the Saint Petersburg State University, Russia. Allen obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2016. During law school, Allen participated in moots, actively volunteered for Student Legal Services for three consecutive years and taught Legal Research and Writing to first year students during his last year of studies. After articling, Allen became a founder and is a Director of Axon Law Office.
EXPERIENCE
Criminal Defence: Over the course of his volunteering with Student Legal Services and articling, Allen has gained considerable experience in criminal defence law. He has represented successfully defended clients in the Provincial Court of Alberta and in the Court of Queen’s Bench. Allen has successfully defended individuals charged with assault, impaired driving, drug and firearm offences.
Family Law: Allen has also advanced client's interests in family law matters such as child/spousal support, parenting/access and guardianship in both Provincial Court and Queen’s Bench. He has experience in drafting and review separation agreements, negotiating solutions to managing high conflict litigation.
Real Estate: Allen regularly assists clients in closing real estate transactions whether it is a sale, purchase or refinancing. He has assisted clients with condominiums, detached houses, duplexes, rural property and new builds located in and around Edmonton. With an eye to detail, Allen strives to ensure timely closings with minimal stress to the clients.
Being a litigator, Allen has appeared before Judges and Justices around Central and Northern Alberta including: Stony Plain, St. Albert, Morinville, Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park, Leduc, Wetaskiwin, Ponoka, Camrose, Athabasca, Evansburg, Slave Lake, Grand Prairie, High Level and more.

Fluent in Mandarin-Chinese.
Limited proficiency in Russian.
