Express Entry Program
The most popular and quickest program to obtain Permanent Residency in Canada is the Express Entry program. The first step is to determine if one meets the minimum eligibility requirements of one of the three streams, Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canada Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
If one meets these minimal requirements the next step one is to submit a profile online which is called an “Expression of Interest”. You will need to, at a minimum, complete an official language test in either English or French and have any foreign degrees assessed for Canadian equivalence.
Next, candidates who submitted their online profile will be ranked against each other. The scores will be based on a person’s education, age, language skills, skilled work experience both in and out of Canada, and whether they have a valid job offer among other factors. If an invitation is given by the government because you have enough points, you have a short timeline to provide all evidence as requested and the government aims to process cases in just six months.
Because the process for Express Entry is very rigid, it is advisable to hire a lawyer to aid with your application, especially if there are sensitive timelines. Express Entry applications have no appeal process so it is important to get the application get done correctly the first time. Improperly completing your application can get someone banned from re-applying using Express Entry. At Axon Law we will:
accurately submit answers to online questionnaires to insure an accurate score
anticipate the specific documents immigration will be requesting so that documents are submitted in a timely manner
recognize problems earlier on so that the government processing fees aren’t spent on a wasted effort. Fees can total to over $1000 per adult and a lesser amount for dependent children
accurately pinpoint the skill level of a person’s work experience using the National Occupational Classification system and whether it is valid work experience
review documents provided for the Express Entry to insure they are accurately providing everything immigration officers are requesting
Also, if you have submitted your application for processing, you may be eligible for an open work permit to extend your status in Canada on just that basis. Please inquire for more information.
