Azhar Khan grew up in Surrey, BC and moved to Edmonton in 2013. As a University Board of Governor Representative, Azhar spent a considerable amount of time at the University of Alberta in student politics advocating for better educational and social environment for his fellow students. In his free time, Azhar enjoys snowboarding, board games (Catan), fantasy hockey pools, and spending time with family and friends.
Azhar completed his BA in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia in 2012. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2016. During law school, Azhar volunteered for Student Legal Services and Civil Claims Duty Counsel, and Access Pro Bono.
He has a limited proficiency in Hindi.
During law school and articling, Azhar worked and articled at an immigration firm in Edmonton over a period of three years. He has represented clients on various immigration matters including Judicial Reviews, Refugee Hearings, Temporary Resident applications, Permanent Resident applications, Family Sponsorships, Humanitarian and Compassionate Grounds applications, and Inadmissibility/Removal matters.
Azhar also practices in the areas of Wills & Estates, Real Estate, and Criminal Law.
